
What is Root Canal?
Root canal treatment is a dental procedure designed to save a tooth that is badly damaged or infected. It involves removing the infected pulp inside the tooth & sealing it to prevent further issues.
When is a Root Canal Needed?
Root canal treatment may be required in the following situations:
1. Severe Tooth Pain: Persistent pain, especially when chewing.
2. Tooth Sensitivity: Increased sensitivity to hot or cold food/drinks.
3. Swelling: Noticeable swelling around the tooth or gums.
4. Discoloration: Darkening of the tooth’s color.

Root Canal Procedure
During your consultation, Dr. Vikas will evaluate your tooth & discuss whether a root canal is the best option.
Treatment procedure
1. Anesthesia: Local anesthesia is used to numb the area.
2. Cleaning: The infected pulp is removed & the canals are cleaned.
3. Sealing: The canals are filled with a material to seal them.
4. Restoration: A crown or filling may be placed to restore the tooth.
Aftercare
1. Post Procedure: Your mouth will be numb for upto 2-3 hours post the root canal treatment. You will be advised to not eat anything that is hot or cold.
2. Pain Management: Take the prescribed medicines for pain-relief & infection management post the root canal procedure.
3. Oral Hygiene: Continue brushing and flossing to keep the area healthy.
4. Follow-Up: The doctor may call you 3-4 days later for a check-up to monitor the tooth’s condition.
